Change record
When Kit raised prices
In September 2025 Kit raised its paid plans for the first time in twelve years and retired the tier the product had been known by. The change is unusually well documented for this dataset: the Wayback Machine archived the Kit pricing page sixteen days before the change and on the day it took effect for new accounts, so both columns here were read off Kit's own page rather than reconstructed.
The increase in three numbers
- Creator at 1k
- $39
- up from $29, which is +34 percent
- Creator Pro at 1k
- $79
- up from $59, the same 20 dollars on a larger base
- Free ceiling
- 10,000
- subscribers, unchanged by the reprice and still the most generous free tier in this dataset
The pricing page, days before and days after
Every row here has a figure on both sides, and every figure was read off the Kit pricing page as the Wayback Machine archived it. Nothing in the table rests on a tracker.
Prices are compiled from public vendor pages and can lag behind a change. Cells marked Der are calculated from published rules and cells marked Est are rough figures. Neither is an invoice or a quote, so confirm with the vendor before you spend.
| Plan and stop | 23 Aug 2025 | 8 Sep 2025 | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Creator at 1,000 | $29 | $39Ver | Historical, read off the Kit pricing page as archived on 23 August and 8 September 2025. This is the like for like increase. |
| Creator Pro at 1,000 | $59 | $79Ver | Historical, read off the archived Kit pricing page. The step up plan moved by 20 dollars, a smaller increase in percentage terms than Creator took. |
| Creator at 3,000 | $49 | $59Ver | Historical, read off the archived Kit pricing page at the 3,000 stop. The 2,500 breakpoint on this site is billed at this stop. |
| Creator at 5,000 | $79 | $89Ver | Historical, read off the archived Kit pricing page at the 5,000 stop. A tracker table once listed this stop as cheaper after the reprice; the archived pages show it rose. |
| Creator at 10,000 | $119 | $139Ver | Historical, read off the archived Kit pricing page at the 10,000 stop. This dataset held the before figure as the current price until 25 September 2026. |
| Creator paid yearly at 1,000 | $290 a year | $390 a yearVer | Kit sells a year as two months free, so the yearly price moved by exactly ten times the monthly one and the discount itself did not change. |
| Free Newsletter ceiling | 10,000 | 10,000Ver | Historical, read off the Kit pricing page as archived on 23 August and 8 September 2025. Both show the free plan up to 10,000 subscribers, so the free ceiling did not move with the paid ladder. One 2026 review says it rose from 1,000 to 10,000 at the same time, which the archived pages do not support. |
Two dates, and which one applied to whom
Anyone opening a Kit account from 8 September 2025 paid the new prices immediately. Existing accounts kept the old ones until their first bill after 15 October 2025, which is a gap of about five weeks at the shortest and thirteen at the longest depending on where the billing anniversary fell.
That gap is the reason guides written in late 2025 contradict each other on what Kit costs. Both figures were being charged at the same time, to different accounts, and the pricing page only showed one of them.
Two old entry prices circulate, and both of them are real
The single most common error in writing about this change is treating 15 dollars and 29 dollars as rival claims about the same thing.
$15 was the bottom rung of the old ConvertKit ladder, sold for a list of 300 subscribers. That rung was removed rather than repriced, and the Kit paid ladder now starts at the 1,000 subscriber tier. So a very small list went from paying $15 to paying $39, which is the number behind the claim that the price nearly tripled.
$29 was the 1,000 subscriber price on the day before the change. Comparing it with $39 is the like for like increase, and it is +34 percent rather than a tripling.
Both sentences are true and they describe different buyers. This page keeps them apart because the dataset holds a tier and a price in separate fields, and collapsing them is how a 34 percent increase gets written up as a 160 percent one.
Where the increase landed, and where it did not
The reprice was not applied evenly across the ladder.
The archived Kit pages show the increase reaching lists of 20,000 subscribers and under. Every stop above that prints the same price on both dates. Creator at 25,000 subscribers is $199 on both archived pages and on the current slider. At 100,000 the current slider bills the 105,000 stop, $679, because it has no 100,000 stop of its own.
So the people who paid for this change were the small and mid sized lists, which is also the group the free Newsletter plan covers up to 10,000 subscribers. Kit raised the price of the first paid step while leaving the step before it free, which widens the gap between the two rather than moving the whole ladder.
The ladder as it stands now

The free Newsletter row runs to 10,000 subscribers and stops, because that is where the plan stops rather than where the price becomes uninteresting. Creator and Creator Pro have a price at all eight: read straight off the slider at 1,000, 5,000, 10,000 and 25,000, and billed at the next stop up at 500, 2,500, 50,000 and 100,000. That makes Kit one of the few vendors here with a readable price at the largest list size on the site.
The question this record raised, and the answer
Recording the old ladder next to the current one exposed something that reading either alone would not have.
Until 25 September 2026 SideBySend recorded Kit Creator at 10,000 subscribers as 119 dollars a month, marked as an estimate because trackers reported 99, 119 and 139 dollars for that stop. The archived Kit pricing page settles it: $119 was the price at that stop before the reprice, and $139 after it. The current Kit slider prints $139, and the cell now carries that figure as verified.
The same pattern showed up one row down. The 2,500 cell is billed at the Kit 3,000 subscriber stop, which the archive shows at 49 dollars before the reprice and 59 after. It reads $59, the current price of that stop.
So some trackers were still publishing pre reprice figures a year later, and one cell in the Kit record had inherited one. Creator Pro at 5,000 and 10,000 subscribers had drifted below the Kit page the same way. The correction is on the record next to the question that led to it.
What changed, in order

Kit cost by list size, and the Kit page gains billing, counting and plan limits
/kit-pricing now prices Creator and Creator Pro at eleven list sizes from 500 to 100,000 subscribers, month to month and for a year, with the slider stop each list is billed at, read off the Kit pricing slider in both billing modes on 26 September 2026. Sizes the slider prints exactly are verified; lists between two stops, such as 50,000 billed at the 55,000 stop, are derived. The page also adds short sections on paying monthly or yearly, who counts toward the bill, sending and passing a tier, what the free plan allows, and users, automations, landing pages, testing and branding by plan, each read on the Kit pricing page or the Kit help center on 26 September 2026.
Effect on a bill. No Kit price moved: every Creator and Creator Pro cell matches the 26 September slider read, and the yearly price is 10 times the monthly price at every stop from 1,000 to 105,000 subscribers.

Correction: Kit's free plan has no automations or email sequences
This site said Kit's free plan allows one automation and one email sequence. Kit's pricing page, read on 26 September 2026, marks the visual automation builder and email sequences as not included on the free plan, which it now calls Free, and Kit's Free plan help article lists both under what needs a paid plan. The Wayback Machine shows that article already saying so on 27 August 2026. An older Kit help article for the Newsletter Plan still describes one basic automation and one sequence. The free plan's other limits are unchanged: ten thousand subscribers, with unlimited sends, forms and landing pages.
Effect on a bill. No price moved. Anyone who needs even one automation or sequence on Kit pays for Creator, from 39 dollars a month at 1,000 subscribers, rather than staying free.

Correction: Kit Creator at 10,000 and Creator Pro at 5,000 and 10,000, and Kit annual prices
Three Kit cells were estimates below what the Kit pricing page prints. A 25 September read of the Kit pricing slider corrected them: Creator at 10,000 subscribers moved from 119 to 139 dollars a month, and Creator Pro from 111 to 139 at 5,000 and from 169 to 189 at 10,000. The annual column now follows the yearly price Kit prints, which is exactly 10 times the monthly price, divided by 12. It had used a 16 percent discount, so annual cells whose monthly price did not change move down by up to about 6 dollars a month, for example 33 to 32.50 dollars for Creator at 1,000. Labels changed too: cells read straight off a slider stop are verified, while 500, 2,500, 50,000 and 100,000, where the slider has no stop and the next stop up is billed, are derived. Creator Pro at 50,000 moves from estimate to derived at an unchanged 519 dollars. The record of the September 2025 reprice now cites the Kit pricing page as archived by the Wayback Machine on 23 August and 8 September 2025 rather than a tracker, and every figure in it was read off those archived pages.
Effect on a bill. Kit costs more than this site showed at 10,000 subscribers: 20 dollars a month more on Creator and 20 more on Creator Pro, and Creator Pro costs 28 dollars more at 5,000. At 10,000 subscribers Omnisend Standard and Constant Contact Lite are now cheaper than Kit Creator, where the old cell had Kit ahead. No other monthly Kit price moved.

The Kit ladder from before the September 2025 reprice is now recorded
Dated snapshots of the Kit pricing page either side of the reprice, first found through a price tracker, give a before and after column rather than a reconstruction. Those figures are now in the dataset. On 25 September 2026 every figure was reread off the Kit pricing page as the Wayback Machine archived it on 23 August and 8 September 2025, which is now the source. They also separate two numbers that were being used interchangeably: 15 dollars was the lowest tier of the old ConvertKit ladder, sold for a list of 300 and retired outright, while 29 dollars was the 1,000 subscriber price immediately before the change. The like for like increase at 1,000 subscribers is 29 dollars to 39.
Effect on a bill. No cell moved at the time. It did raise a question about one. The recorded Kit Creator price at 10,000 subscribers was 119 dollars, which the snapshots show was the pre reprice price for that stop, against 139 dollars after it. That cell was left as an estimate until the Kit pricing page was read again, and on 25 September 2026 it was corrected to 139 dollars.

Kit repriced Creator and retired the 15 dollar entry tier
Kit raised paid plan prices by roughly 35 percent and removed the old 15 dollar Creator tier. Creator now opens at 39 dollars a month and Creator Pro at 79, both at 1,000 subscribers. The free Newsletter plan stayed at 10,000 subscribers.
Effect on a bill. Kit's floor for a paid plan went up by about 24 dollars a month. Any guide still quoting 15 dollars is describing pricing that no longer exists.
