Constant Contact vs Mailchimp pricing

Constant Contact Lite undercuts Mailchimp Essentials at 500 contacts, then Mailchimp Essentials is cheaper at every larger overlapping stop through 25,000. Above that Constant Contact shows Contact Sales and no public dollar.

Constant Contact Lite against Mailchimp Essentials, the cheapest paid plan each vendor sells at the eight breakpoints. Plans are not feature matched.
Prices are compiled from public vendor pages and can lag behind a change. Cells marked Der are calculated from published rules and cells marked Est are rough figures. Neither is an invoice or a quote, so confirm with the vendor before you spend.

Send allowances and SMS
Constant Contact includes 10 times the contact count in monthly email sends on Lite, 12 times on Standard, and 24 times on Premium. Past the allowance the published overage is 0.002 dollars per email. At 10,000 contacts Lite therefore includes 100,000 monthly sends.
Mailchimp Essentials includes 10 times the contact count. At 10,000 contacts that is 100,000 monthly sends for $110.
SMS sits beside the email bill on both sides. Constant Contact Premium includes 500 SMS messages a month on US paid plans, and Lite and Standard sell SMS as an add on from $10 a month for 1 to 500 messages. Mailchimp SMS is recorded on its own page. Neither SMS meter is inside the email cells above.
What each one counts, and who has a free plan
Mailchimp. Mailchimp's contact table publishes a yes or no per status. Subscribed, unsubscribed and non subscribed contacts all count toward the monthly contact limit. Cleaned contacts, which is where hard bounces land, do not. Pending contacts do not count and are deleted after 60 days if they never confirm. Its free plan covers 250 contacts and 500 emails a month, which sits below the first SideBySend breakpoint.
Constant Contact. No contact counting rule for unsubscribed addresses was visible on the Constant Contact pricing page or inside the fee-schedule modal on the check date. No free plan record sits in this dataset for Constant Contact, so none is claimed here.
