Comparison
Mailchimp vs Brevo pricing
These two do not sell the same thing. Mailchimp charges for stored contacts and attaches a send allowance to the contact tier. Brevo charges for monthly send volume and caps the list underneath. Under the weekly send assumption Brevo Starter undercuts Mailchimp Essentials at every overlapping monthly stop both publish.
Cheapest paid plan each one sells
Mailchimp Essentials against Brevo Starter. Starter on Brevo has no marketing automation. Essentials includes the automation set Mailchimp sells at the entry paid tier.
Prices are compiled from public vendor pages and can lag behind a change. Cells marked Der are calculated from published rules and cells marked Est are rough figures. Neither is an invoice or a quote, so confirm with the vendor before you spend.

Mid list sizes on both dated ladders
- 500 contacts
- $9
- Brevo Starter derived under the weekly assumption. Mailchimp Essentials is $13 verified.
- 10,000 contacts
- $46
- Brevo Starter derived from its send band. Mailchimp Essentials is $110 verified.
- 25,000 contacts
- $82
- Brevo Starter on the 100,000 send band. Mailchimp Essentials is $270.
Mailchimp Essentials is cheaper than Brevo Starter at none of the overlapping breakpoints where both publish a monthly figure. Brevo Starter is cheaper at 500, 1,000, 2,500, 5,000, 10,000, 25,000.
At 25,000 contacts under 4 sends per contact per month, Brevo needs about 100,000 emails a month, which lands on the 100,000 send band. Starter is $82. Mailchimp Standard at the same size is $310 against Brevo Standard at $139. At 10,000 contacts Mailchimp Standard is $135 against Brevo Standard at $89.
Free plans sit on different limits
- Mailchimp Free
- 250
- The send allowance is the tighter of the two limits. 500 emails a month, and no more than 250 in a day, is two campaigns to a full 250 contact list.
- Brevo Free
- 100,000
- Storage is the generous part and sending is not. Brevo holds 100,000 contacts for nothing, which is more than any paid plan below the 20,000 send band allows, and removing the daily send cap is the main thing Starter buys.
- Essentials at 500
- $13
- The first paid Mailchimp stop after the free ceiling. Brevo Starter at the same size is $9.
Mailchimp Free tops out at 250 contacts. Brevo still holds 100,000 contacts free, but the daily send cap is what usually forces a paid band. The paid comparison only starts once both lists need more than those free ceilings allow.
Different meters on the same list size
Mailchimp. Mailchimp's contact table publishes a yes or no per status. Subscribed, unsubscribed and non subscribed contacts all count toward the monthly contact limit. Cleaned contacts, which is where hard bounces land, do not. Pending contacts do not count and are deleted after 60 days if they never confirm. Essentials allows about ten times the contact count in monthly sends. Standard raises that allowance.
Brevo. Brevo bills send volume, so a blocklisted contact costs nothing to send to and Brevo says as much. It also says blocklisted contacts are still added to the total number of contacts, and since October 2025 that total is capped by the send band. So they do not cost sends and they do consume the cap. Every Brevo contact breakpoint on this page rests on the site wide weekly send assumption. A list that sends more often buys a higher band. Per contact against per send sets that assumption out in full.
Both ladders are dated dataset reads. Mailchimp prints no 1,000 contact stop, so a 1,000 contact list pays the 1,500 tier price and that row is derived from it. Brevo added hard contact caps under volume bands in October 2025. Older sticker prices that ignore those dates are not used here.
