What the free plan and dial changed
Read from Twilio SendGrid changelogs and the Marketing Campaigns pricing dial, checked 13 September 2026.
| Rule | Earlier surface | Current surface | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Product scope | Email API and Marketing Campaigns often mixed in third-party guides | Marketing Campaigns dial only on this site | Marketing Campaigns bills on contact storage and email volume together. Email API is a separate Twilio SendGrid product and is out of scope for every cell on this page. |
| Free Marketing Campaigns surface | Standing Free Marketing Campaigns plan (legacy contact caps varied by signup date) | Free Trial for 60 days, then a paid Basic, Advanced or Custom card | The 28 May 2025 changelog retired Free Marketing Campaigns after a 60 day transition. The official dial capture on the verified date shows Free Trial at 0 dollars for 60 days with up to 100 contacts and 100 emails a day, not a standing free plan. |
| New free contact cap (6 Aug 2024) | Older free Marketing Campaigns contact ceilings for legacy free accounts | New free Marketing Campaigns signups limited to 100 monthly contacts | Twilio's 6 August 2024 changelog applied the 100 contact cap to new free Marketing Campaigns accounts only. Pre-change free accounts kept their then-current free contact storage until the later free-plan retirement. |
| Paid plan names on the dial | Free plus paid Marketing Campaigns cards | Free Trial, Basic, Advanced and Custom | The live dial capture records Basic from 15 dollars a month and Advanced from 60 dollars a month at low volume, with Custom at 500,000+ contacts and at the highest email bands. Capacity suffixes such as Basic 100k stay as the UI printed them. |
The dated events are short. On 6 August 2024 new free Marketing Campaigns accounts were limited to 100 monthly contacts. On 28 May 2025 Twilio announced that Free Marketing Campaigns (and Free Email API) would retire after a 60 day transition. Paid Marketing Campaigns plans were unchanged by that announcement.
The full contact and email dial lives on SendGrid Marketing Campaigns pricing. Cost-at-N children freeze single contact stops from the same matrix. SendGrid Marketing Campaigns stays outside the six vendor tables.
Official changelog trail
Two Twilio changelog entries shape the free surface. Paid Basic and Advanced floors come from the dial, not from those posts.
Prices are compiled from public vendor pages and can lag behind a change. Cells marked Der are calculated from published rules and cells marked Est are rough figures. Neither is an invoice or a quote, so confirm with the vendor before you spend.
After the free-plan retirement, the official dial shows Free Trial at free for 60 days, Basic from $15 and Advanced from $60. Custom appears at 500,000+ contacts and at the highest email bands. Capacity suffixes on the cards stay as the UI printed them in the live capture.
