Comparison

HubSpot vs Mailchimp pricing

These products do not share a billing shape. Mailchimp sells Essentials and Standard on a contact ladder with send allowances. HubSpot Marketing Hub sells edition bases, Core Seats and marketing-contact packs from the Product and Services Catalog. This page keeps catalog USD beside Mailchimp LIVE cells and does not invent a HubSpot eight-breakpoint matrix.

Snapshot 3, HubSpot catalog checked 26 September 2026, Mailchimp checked 14 September 2026. Monthly billing shown first.

The bill shapes are not the same

HubSpot Starter base
$20
Per Core Seat. 1,000 marketing contacts included.
Mailchimp Essentials at 1k
$26.50
Verified contact ladder cell. Standard is $45.
HubSpot Professional base
$890
3 Core Seats. Onboarding $3,000 one-time.

Mailchimp prices stored audience contacts. HubSpot prices an edition base, then Core Seats, then marketing-contact packs on top. Comparing a HubSpot Starter seat sticker to a Mailchimp Essentials cell without saying which seats and which contact packs are in play mixes two meters.

HubSpot cells on this page prefer the Product and Services Catalog. The Marketing pricing UI can show suite or Customer Platform packaging, but its Marketing Hub list prices match the catalog, as do those on HubSpot's pricing calculator, read 26 September 2026. Only promotional prices, such as the new customer Starter seat, stay out.

Mailchimp Essentials across eight list sizes

Verified LIVE ladder. Essentials is the Mailchimp comparison plan. Standard sits in the notes.

Prices are compiled from public vendor pages and can lag behind a change. Cells marked Der are calculated from published rules and cells marked Est are rough figures. Neither is an invoice or a quote, so confirm with the vendor before you spend.

Paying yearly on Mailchimp and HubSpot

Per month at 10,000 contacts, paid month to month and paid for a year up front.

Per month at 10,000 contacts. Mailchimp figures come from its vendor record and annual rule (read 25 September 2026). HubSpot figures are the Pay Monthly and Pay Annually options on HubSpot's pricing calculator, read 26 September 2026; Professional paid annually is the 800 dollar base plus contact packs at 10 percent off, so derived. Onboarding is not included.

Sources: the Mailchimp pricing page and HubSpot's pricing calculator.

Mailchimp's standing offer is a first year promotion, still billed monthly, rather than an annual price, so the yearly column is empty on its side. On HubSpot the commitment comes first: Professional is a 12 month contract even when paid monthly, and paying the year up front is what lowers the rate.

Sends and what each one counts

Mailchimp Essentials allows ten times the contact count in monthly sends. Standard allows twelve times. Premium allows fifteen times. HubSpot marketing email send limits scale with the marketing-contact tier: Starter at 5 times, Professional at 10 times, and Enterprise at 20 times that tier. Those HubSpot multiples are catalog feature limits, not a separate dollar meter.

Mailchimp. Mailchimp's contact table publishes a yes or no per status. Subscribed, unsubscribed and non subscribed contacts all count toward the monthly contact limit. Cleaned contacts, which is where hard bounces land, do not. Pending contacts do not count and are deleted after 60 days if they never confirm.

HubSpot. For new customers after 5 March 2024, Marketing Hub Starter is priced per Core Seat, and Professional and Enterprise start at a base price that includes Core Seats. Marketing contacts sit on top of the edition: included contacts come with the base, and further contacts are sold in catalog bands. Non-marketing contacts are free up to an overall contact ceiling of 15 million (marketing plus non-marketing). Exceeding the marketing-contact tier bills immediately. Designating contacts as non-marketing takes effect at the start of the following month or contract renewal, whichever comes first, and contact-tier downgrades wait until renewal.

Mailchimp still publishes a free plan that tops out at 250 contacts. The send allowance is the tighter of the two limits. 500 emails a month, and no more than 250 in a day, is two campaigns to a full 250 contact list. HubSpot Marketing Hub has no free edition on the recorded catalog ladder.
